Yes, you can easily send any image as an attachment in Yahoo! Mail, but wouldn’t it be much more elegant to include the picture directly in your message, with the relevant text surrounding it?

When you insert an image as described below, you can place several pictures in one email and have them positioned in a way that makes it easier for the recipient to read.

For example, if you sent 5 images as attachments and the email is describing each photo, it’s harder to understand which image is being talked about since the images aren’t actually shown along with the other email content.

However, if you insert the pictures in-line with the text, you can put some text before or after the pictures to have a much easier way to talk about them, and the images will display as the reader scrolls through the message.

Fortunately, Yahoo! Mail lets you do that but doing so isn’t as clearly understood as including the image as an attachment, and it only works if you use the rich text editor in Yahoo! Mail.

Insert an In-Line Image Into Yahoo! Mail

There are two main ways to do this. You can try to drag and drop the image from a website or copy/paste it. Depending on the operating system and browser, one or the other method might work better.

Drag the Image

  1. Open the website where the image is located, and position the page side-by-side with Yahoo! Mail. You can do this by uploading your own image to a website like Imgur, or by choosing one on a different website. If the image is too large, you might consider resizing it down to a square to make it fit nicely in the email.

  1. Drag the image from the other website and place it directly into the message box on Yahoo! Mail.

Copy and Paste the Picture

  1. Right-click the image and choose to copy it from that menu.Another way to do this is to click the photo so that it’s selected, and then hit Ctrl+C on the keyboard.
  2. Go into Yahoo! Mail and right-click to choose paste from the menu. The image will go wherever the cursor is located at the time of the paste. An alternative pasting method is to hit Ctrl+V on Windows or Command+Von a Mac.
